How to Add Your Rural Property Listing on Rural Property Hub: A Step-by-Step Guide
Selling your rural property is a big deal—and getting it in front of the right buyers is just as important. Whether you’re saying goodbye to your farmhouse, a piece of hunting land, or a sprawling homestead, listing it on Rural Property Hub can help you find folks who truly appreciate the land and lifestyle you’ve worked hard to build.
The process of submitting your listing is simpler than you might think, and we’re here to walk you through every step. Grab your cup of sweet tea, kick back, and let’s get your property ready to meet the next lucky owner.
Head on Over to the Property Listing Page
To get started, open your browser and mosey on over to Rural Property Hub’s property submission page. This is where you’ll fill in all the details about your property so folks can get to know it inside and out. It’s easy as pie, so don’t fret!
Step 1: Fill Out Your Property’s Basic Details
The first thing you’ll need to do is tell potential buyers what you’re offering up for sale. Here’s a quick breakdown:
Property Title
This is where you’ll name your property. Think of it like naming a horse—it should be something that tells the story, but keeps it short and sweet. For example, “Charming 20-Acre Homestead with Creek” or “Beautiful 50-Acre Ranch with Rolling Hills.” Make it eye-catching, but still descriptive. Buyers should know exactly what they’re looking at when they read the title.
Property Description
This is your chance to tell the story of your property. Write a detailed, friendly description of the land, the home, and any other features that make it special. Maybe it’s the pastureland, the views, or the creek that runs through the property, adding a natural rhythm to the land. You can even include your contact information here if you’d like, making it easier for buyers to reach out directly. If you’d prefer to keep it private, don’t worry. Interested buyers can still get in touch through our system’s contact form, and those messages will be sent straight to your email.
Price
Next, enter the asking price for your property. This is what buyers will see when they browse listings. Take your time here—check out what other similar properties are going for to make sure you’re pricing it just right. You don’t want to price yourself out of the market, but you also don’t want to undervalue what your land is worth.
Property Type
Now, you’ll select what kind of property you’re selling. Whether it’s a Farm, Residential, Ranch, Commercial, or Mountain, pick the one that best matches your property’s purpose. If your land could serve multiple uses, choose the one that highlights the most attractive feature.
Select the Residence Type (If Applicable)
If your property includes a residence—whether it’s a cozy cabin, a spacious farmhouse, or a rustic lodge—this is where you’ll let buyers know what kind of home they’ll be looking at. Simply choose the Residence Type from the dropdown menu.
Select the Property Status
This is where you’ll indicate the current status of your property. The status options help you keep your listing up-to-date, and you can always log back in to update it as things change. For example, if your property is for sale now, Active is the choice to make. If you’ve recently lowered your price, select Reduced If you’ve accepted an offer and the property is Pending, you’ll want to reflect that too. You can also mark it as Sold once the deal is closed, or Under Contract if the deal is nearly final.
Step 2: Add Your Photos—Let Your Property Shine
Now comes one of the most important parts: photos! A good photo can say more than words ever could, especially when it comes to rural properties. You’ll want to upload a selection of images that showcase your property in its best light. Whether it’s the house, barns, outbuildings, land, or any special features like ponds, gardens, or open pastures—this is your chance to show off what makes your place unique.
To make sure your photos really pop, try uploading at least 15-30 images. Show a variety of angles and perspectives to give potential buyers a full picture of the property. Bright daylight photos are ideal, but if you can capture your property at sunrise or sunset, those golden hours can add a magical touch. Drone shots are a fantastic way to give buyers a grand view of the land, especially if your property spans wide-open spaces. If you have a drone handy, definitely use it to capture the full scope of your property.
When it comes to the image requirements, at least one image is required for a valid submission, and the minimum image size is 500x500px. This ensures your property shines and that the quality of your photos is the best it can be. Once you’ve uploaded your photos, you can double-click on any image to mark it as the featured photo—this will be the first one buyers see when browsing through listings.
If you need to reorder your images, simply drag and drop them into your preferred order. It’s that easy to rearrange them the way you’d like. Additionally, Rural Property Hub supports PDF file uploads. This is perfect for including property maps, survey documents, or any additional brochures that buyers might find helpful.
But there’s even more to help bring your listing to life. If you have a video from Vimeo or YouTube, you can add it right to your listing. Just select Vimeo or YouTube from the dropdown menu and enter the Embed Video ID. This is a great way to give potential buyers a dynamic, in-depth look at your property. If you have a virtual tour available, you can also include that! Simply enter the link to your virtual tour in the Virtual Tour Embed Code field, and it will be added directly to your listing for buyers to explore.
With these options, you can really make your listing stand out. Whether buyers are looking at photos, watching a video, or taking a virtual walk through your property, they’ll be able to experience everything that makes your land special.
Step 3: Listing Location
Next, it’s time to enter your property’s address. But don’t worry, we’ve made this part easy! Just start typing in the address, and our system will automatically search for it. Once it pops up in the list, select it, and our system will fill in the rest of the details for you. This ensures everything’s formatted correctly and even adds the latitude and longitude for the map automatically.
If the address doesn’t show up (which can happen with more remote locations), you can still enter the details manually, though we recommend letting the system do the work if possible. This way, everything’s accurate and consistent.
You’ll also see a couple of extra options here:
Google Street View: We recommend checking this box if your property is accessible by road. It lets potential buyers take a virtual drive down your street, which can help them get a feel for the area.
Hide Map Marker: If you prefer to keep the exact location of your property private, you can check the box to hide the map marker on your listing. It’s your land, and we respect your privacy!
Step 4: Property Details
Here’s where you’ll fill in the specifics about your property, including the living area (in square feet), the lot size (in acres), the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and the year the house was built. You’ll also enter the estimated taxes for the property, the elevation, and the topography—all things that can help buyers get a clear picture of what they’re buying. If you know your land’s elevation or have some details about the topography (such as whether it’s mostly flat, hilly, or wooded), be sure to add them here.
This is also where you’ll select your listing type (Sale, Lease, or Auction), depending on how you’re offering your property.
Step 5: Amenities
Now, let’s highlight all the wonderful features that make your property stand out. Whether it’s a barn for livestock, solar power keeping you off the grid, or a pond perfect for fishing, this is your time to showcase the special amenities that make your land unique. There are plenty of options to choose from—like horse property, owner financing, or even if your land has a private airstrip. By checking all the amenities that apply to your property, you’re making it easier for interested buyers to find your listing through advanced searches.
Step 6: Submit Your Listing
Once you’ve filled in all the details, reviewed everything, and uploaded your photos, hit the Submit Property button. Your listing won’t go live right away, but it’ll be accessible to you in your User Dashboard, where you can check on it or make changes at any time.
We’ll review your listing to ensure everything looks good and is in tip-top shape before it goes live. We do this to make sure we don’t have any spammy listings on the site and also to offer a helping hand if we notice anything you might have missed. After the review, we’ll notify you when your listing is live and visible to buyers. We’ll have it up and running in no time! You’ll also be able to track its status as it moves from Pending Approval to Published in your dashboard. And don’t forget—you can log in and make updates anytime.
Step 7: Respond and Start the Conversation
Once your listing is live, buyers will start reaching out. Be sure to respond quickly to any inquiries and provide as much information as possible. The more details you can offer—whether that’s about the land’s history, potential uses, or the livestock on the property—the more likely you are to connect with the right buyer who’ll fall in love with your land, just like you did.
